This season's free jar is Raspberry Enlightenment jam. I'm pretty psyched and am heading there this weekend, as I'm out of salt. I just stocked up on everything a couple of months ago, but I'm sure I will come home with more than just those 2 things.
I haven't made my own hummus in quite some time. I've found a great brand at whole foods called Cava, which is made in MD. Their original has no oil, only tahini, and it's delicious... although I do like to drizzle a bit of high quality evoo on top! :)
Thanks for commenting, JB... I do love a good food convo with you! kimberlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18084959583705952635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3188527734890621085.post-49125850894370532712012-09-16T06:41:24.456-07:002012-09-16T06:41:24.456-07:00That looks delicious. Few things are better than a good chili, and I am lucky because Janet made chili yesterday, but meatless.

Another good thing I've found that will increase the richness of the chili is a tablespoon or two (usually 2 for me) of good peanut or almond butter in the bowl right before serving. Adds another layer of flavor also. A few raisins or currants gives you a little sweet to balance the heat if you're interested in that.

I like the Arizona Dreaming, and they have another similar blend called "Forward," which I've been using to season my garbanzos! Going to make hummus and falafel today. Enjoy your chili!J.S. More like .40 for what we buy.

I made beans on Monday, also, but with rice. Started with onions, garlic and carrots sauteed in OO before adding 3 different canned beans. Topped with fresh tomatoes. Very tasty.

It's always nice to make something from something on hand you've already made. I like the orange bagged one myself.
Yes- that is right off the brick, lol... actually, that was after I cut the brick up, boiled it, and let it cool. Like tofu, tempeh will take on flavors, but it is much meatier than tofu.
Let me know how your TVP goes- I do like the texture it can add- especially in Amy's spicy canned chili, but never cooked with it straight up... it's one of those processed to death soy products that end up being a little dirty... Consider tempeh next time you want to "beef" up your rice and beans! :) As I say this, I plan on using a little 'dirty' soy chorizo in some of my own rice and beans later today... it's just one of those once in awhile things I suppose.
You say, "wish us luck," but you and Janet have made leaps and bounds with changes to your diet- I don't see it going anywhere but further in its progression.kimberlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18084959583705952635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3188527734890621085.post-78029671901800290512011-01-08T14:10:37.108-08:002011-01-08T14:10:37.108-08:00Tempeh, eh? I assume it adds some meatiness and takes on the flavors you give it.

I did buy some TVP today, though, and I'm going to slip it into my beans and rice I'm making soon.
